Hello Generous Peoples

I'll be walking again in the Crop Walk this year if you would like to make a tax deductible gift to help fight hunger. The walk is October 19th and they'll be collecting money until the end of the month. Please consider making a contribution. Half of the money will go to Greensboro Urban Ministry and the other half goes to Church World Service. You probably have a good idea of what Greensboro Urban Ministry does (meals, shelter, food pantry, clothing, cars, etc.), but the minister at our church worked for Church World Service in Ghana for 10ish years and I've heard quite a few stories about the struggles people face there. Do you know what the biggest obstacle in everyday life for people in rural Africa? It's getting enough clean water to live. Your faucet is probably running while you read this, so go turn it off and consider making a pledge to help people both near and far.

If you want something tangible for your money, Desmond is selling popcorn for the Cub Scouts. You can order it online here (order key TEAXMR). However, he does not get credit for online sales (his cub scout pack will and that's who gets the money they raise). We will have the popcorn the week before Thanksgiving, so if you want him to sell enough to get a pocket knife (and really what 7 year old doesn't need a decent pocket knife to replace that rusty pair of scissors Daddy left laying around) you can contact me and I'll put your order down and get it to you around Thanksgiving.

I'll contribute to the Crop Walk but I spent $160 on my own kids' school fundraiser. God, I hope that wasn't enough to land Grace a new pocket knife...that would most likely land in Johnny's head.

Is it too late to contribute to the CropWalk on your online site? I'm blaming all of my lateness on ADD these days.
