As I was saying

When George Bush came out for his victory speech, I was really angry w/ him. I couldn't believe this yahoo was going to be our president for a 2nd term. By the time he finished his speech I wasn't angry. Of course, I had a beer during the speech. A day later I was noticing a return of the rhetoric that is extremely divisive and also extremely common. Reaching out to Democrats who want to follow your vision isn't really reaching out. Having people who agree w/ you vote to agree w/ you isn't having a discourse on the issues. Different day, same story. I bet John Paul Stevens hangs on to his slot until 2008 if he lives that long.

I hope you saw the NC State/Florida State football game. The game wasn't great, but Chuck Amato wore this hat that made him look like
Chuck Barris.

Finally, I had the pleasure of going to Peace UCC where they reassured me that "moral values" are not defined by the Christian Right. This bit of inspiration from the bulletin made me feel energized. "We believe God continually calls us into new ministries of love, justice, and inclusiveness. And we live out that calling in new settings and circumstances. The roots of our faith are over two thousand years old. But our thinking is not. We are a seekers' church. Our worship doesn't exclude questions and explorations. At our best, our congregations seek to include anyone and everyone who wants to listen for the voice of the still speaking God." Amen. Rock on.
